Hello,

My name is Brian, and I’m currently looking for a battery/front ensemble tech or arranging job for hire. I’m looking to expand upon my views and ideas to upcoming drumlines. I’ve marched in high school band in a very good marching band for all 4 years. I have participated in ensembles of all kinds, including jazz bands and percussion ensembles in both high school and college (Michigan State University – music performance major). Other ensembles I have participated with and performed in are the Glassmen of Toledo, OH in DCI World Class, and NorthCoast Academy Percussion Ensemble in WGI World Class.

I have taught as a private drum instructor for 3 years, with instruction in both concert percussion and marching percussion. I have also written the percussion book for a few schools I have taught at previously. I’m looking to get my “foot in the door” into the competitive marching/percussion circuit and would love to have someone contact me if interested.

I have reliable transportation and means to effectively teach and write music.

(I am also willing to travel and/or move pretty far if job is worth it and the attitude/discipline is there.)

I have over 25 years experience as a designer and clinician for high school/college bands, drum corps, winter guards, and indoor drum lines. A former member of The Cavaliers and Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, I am also an adjudicator for the Central States Judges Association and US Bands Association.

My strengths are integration of the color guard and percussion into the visual design and music / visual coordination. I currently write 5-6 indoor percussion and 1-2 winter guard shows every year, so i know how to integrate those ensembles with the winds to maximize your overall effect. Many of my smaller bands have done well in competition, including the 2010 USSBA Class 1A Virginia Champions Liberty High School; and Astoria HS in Oregon, who march 13-17 winds and compete well with bands marching 70+ winds.

I offer drill design discounts when music, numbers, and deposit are received prior to May 1st. I will also do one “numbers” rewrite prior to band camp to make sure your instrumentation is accurate.

In addition to writing for High Schools in 28 states, a partial list of past clients include:

I am currently working with the Sharyland High School Indoor Percussion as a visual designer/instructor and with the Sharyland Rattler Marching band as a Designer and Visual Caption Head for the last 2 years reaching “Area Marching Contest” and placing 4th in Visual in their Finals Performance. I have also taught and written for other schools in the area including Edinburg Economedes, Edinburg North, Rio Hondo, Mcallen Memorial, and Klein Forest Highschool in Houston.

My groups have Won “Best in Class” awards in VIsual, Percussion and Colorguard and have finished 1st in class at Numerous USSBA and BOA Competitions.

Previously, I have performed with Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps from 04-09 playing trumpet then as a Visual Instructor in the 2010, and 2011 competitive seasons reaching 11th place in 2010, and a 9th place finish in 2011.

In 2012 I will be working with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps from Casper, Wyoming as a Visual Instructor.
